Volunteer Information & Guidelines
Join us for a family-friendly Halloween experience at one of the most renowned historic sites in the country, The Hermitage: Home of President Andrew Jackson. As a special event volunteer for the 12th annual Hauntings at The Hermitage, you may dish out treats on our Presidential Trick or Treat Trail, play games with little ghosts and goblins, greet visitors to the event, or scare those brave enough to try the haunted hay ride through the Hermitage woods.
To volunteer for this event, please review the guidelines listed below and then submit the form at the bottom of the page.
1) All volunteers must register in advance and be available to volunteer for the duration of the event. Volunteers must be willing to work a full shift from 4:30 p.m. to approximately 10:30 p.m.
2) Volunteers are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes. No blood, gore, or costumes that are too revealing. Contemporary costumes featuring horror movie characters are strictly prohibited. No Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Leatherface, Ghostface (Scream character), etc. Face-covering masks are not permitted.
3) All volunteers must attend an orientation on either Saturday, October 13th at 9 a.m. or Tuesday, October 16th at 6:30 p.m.
Acceptance of volunteers will be based on matching the interests and skills of the volunteer with the needs of the Ladies’ Hermitage Association. The Ladies’ Hermitage Association reserves the right to accept or deny any volunteer for any reason.
