Getting to Know You...Friends of the Hermitage: Chestnut Group

The Hermitage is fortunate to have so many friends and supporters whose gifts of time, talent and treasure make it possible for us to fulfill our mission to
preserve, educate and inspire on these 1,120 spectacular acres!

We'd like to introduce you to some special new friends who share their talent to benefit many local nonprofits. Members of The Chestnut Group are plein air artists who enjoy painting in the open air at historic locations and other significant venues. They partner with nonprofits who share their vision - dedication to the conservation and preservation of vanishing landscapes and historic properties in Middle Tennessee. Paintings of these various locations are offered for auction or sale, with partial proceeds benefiting the charities.

We are honored that The Chestnut Group chose The Hermitage as a nonprofit partner this year. Their art will be exclusively featured at our Spring Outing event on Wednesday, May 21,with remaining pieces available throughout that week. It's a great reason to make plans to attend Spring Outing this year!

In the meantime, you may have a chance to get acquainted with painters from The Chestnut Group. They held their first "paint out" on our grounds on Sunday, November 3, along with a picnic and private tours of the Hermitage mansion. Members will continue coming to paint at various times over the coming months. You may see their easels set up all around our property. If you do, you are welcome to stop and ask questions to learn about their painting process.

The Hermitage is grateful for our new friendship with The Chestnut Group. We are eager for Spring Outing to see the unveiled results of this year's painting at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage!
