199th Anniversary Commemoration of Battle of New Orleans





The celebration of Jackson's victory at the Battle of New Orleans every January 8 has become the enduring tradition of The Hermitage. Visitors enjoy free admission on this day, and can participate in a number of activities, beginning at 9:00 am. Living history, period musicians, crafts and educational activities begin at 9:00. Director of Education and Interpretation James Yasko will conduct a workshop for parents and educators entitled "Teaching the War of 1812" at 9:30 and 1:30. The traditional wreath-laying ceremony begins promptly at 11:00. The events of the day conclude at 3:00. Refreshments will be available, and children will want to pick up their Hermitage PastPort! Look for additional information to come.
